With over 15 years of experience in traditional sculpture and another 15 years in the digital entertainment industry, Rafa Zabala is a seasoned character and creature artist who has contributed to major productions at Top studios like Weta Digital, ILM, The Mill, Ubisoft and other top-tier studios.
From blockbuster films like The Hobbit, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Iron Man III, Man of Steel, Ready Player One, and Aquaman, to AAA game cinematics such as League of Legends, Brink, Body Count, Recore, and global ad campaigns for brands like Volkswagen, Audi, and Super Bowl commercials, our work spans diverse genres and stylesfro, from stylized to hyperrealistic.
Rafa also works leading a team of exceptional artists, delivering top-quality characters and creatures in any style from stylized to hyperrealistic, combining technical excellence with deep anatomical and artistic knowledge.
Beyond entertainment, I’ve expanded my professional path into the field of anatomical education and research through the launch of Rafa Zabala Anatomy (RZA) an initiative that bridges art and science. RZA offers a unique approach to anatomy training for digital and traditional artists, as well as medical professionals, integrating cadaver dissection, 3D sculpture, and digital modeling into one cohesive learning experience.
